8 Plugins I install with every new WordPress Blog

by Place for Bloggers

WordPress plugin directory contains more than 6000 plugins. It is always good to check what’s new and which plugins become popular (which means bloggers find them beneficial).

In this article I’ll discuss 8 plugins I install with every new WordPress blog.

Social Bookmarking

  • AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget – Increase your traffic and page rank with the #1 bookmarking and sharing service. Adds the familiar addthis button to your blog posts. Sign up for addthis analytics to understand how people are sharing your content. 54,569 downloads.
  • TweetMeme Button – The TweetMeme button easily allows your blog to be retweeted. The button also provides a current count of how many times your story has been retweeted throughout twitter. 44,947 downloads

Become a Friend with search Engines

  • All in One SEO Pack - Optimizes your WordPress blog for Search Engines (Search Engine Optimization). 2,946,137 downloads.
  • Google XML Sitemaps – This plugin will generate a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap of your WordPress blog which is supported by Ask.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO. 1,846,537 downloads.

Communicate with your Visitors

  • Contact Form 7 – Just another contact form plugin. Simple but flexible. Supports multiple contact forms, spam filtering with Akismet, bot prevention with CAPTCHA and more. 802,120 downloads.

We all love Statistics

  • Google Analyticator – Adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google Analytics. 528,870 downloads.
  • WordPress.com Stats – Google Analytics provides an incredible depth of information. However it doesn’t really highlight what’s most interesting to us as a writers. This plugin provides data about your most popular posts and pages. WordPress.com Stats is a prerequisite to the use of other plugins such as WordPress.com Popular Posts plugin. 920,885 downloads.
  • Akismet – Checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. Actually this plugin comes with the default installation of WordPress but it must be activated.

What is your favorite plugin?

Your feedback is welcome.

I haven’t added an SEO plugin to my blog yet as the theme comes with SEO installed. However, I’ve come across SEOPressor – has anyone got any feedback about this?
