Don’t you hate it when you have spent time and written a blog post and no one comments on it? Jakob Nielsen wrote that in most online communities, 90% of users are lurkers who never contribute, 9% of users contribute a little, and 1% of users account for almost all the action. Nevertheless those 9+1 % need some encouragement to comment on your blog.
In this article I’ll present 6 WordPress plugin that will encourage readers to comment on blog.
Using these WP plugins and widgets can be the difference between 6% commenting readers to 12%.

I think it’s useful article, but I think people need now more social commenting because it will give you more article sharing.
I know more people who uses only social network and even no Google.
I value the post.Really thank you!
I have been resisting adding CommentLuv to my blog for a while – it just didn’t seem necessary. After your review, I decided to add it, and I thoroughly enjoy it now. One question – I notice you do not let commenters pick the displayed blog post from their last 10. This is an option in CommentLuv (default is to allow only registered users to do so). It seemed like a great way to go to me, so I was wondering why you decided not to include that feature. Great post – thanks!
Nice info..very helpful for newbie…

I am looking for WordPress plugin developed to send an e-mail message to users who comment on your website who have never commented before.
You forgot to mention KeywordLuv and Top Commentators plugins as well. Those 2 are great for site owners who want to increase number of comments as well.

I agree that 90% of people are lurkers, I usually just lurk forums myself until I need to ask something or something gets a reaction out of me. Maybe users are too shy or scared they’ll get flamed or maybe they’re just too lazy. Thanks for the great post, definately going to try some of those plugins to see if I can get people out of their shell and make comments

That’s very good list that you posted. Getting people to comment is difficult so if you’re able to reward those who comment in some small way, it definitely helps. I’ve tried nearly every one of the plug-ins that you mentioned but the one’s I like best and currently use are CommentLuv and Subscribe-to- Comments.
