Twitter is a great place to promote your blog. Every blogger I know wish one of his posts will go viral on twitter. The problem is that even if you ask one blogger, that had such luck, he probably wouldn’t be able to tell exactly what made one post go viral and the other not. Nevertheless we shouldn’t lie back and wait, we must take actions.
In this post I’ll provide 4 simple ways to take action and help your blog posts go viral.
Provide a dedicated button
Don’t use a general ‘Share’ button. Provide your readers with a dedicated ‘Share on Twitter button’. Put your button before or after your post, in a place that emphasize the relation between button and post.
I prefer using the TweetMeme button as it became a standard and is widely used by other pro bloggers.
Educate your readers
You’ll be surprised to learn how many of your readers aren’t using Twitter, and even if they do, they don’t know exactly what this button used for.
Write a small post about the TweetMeme button and explain what clicking on the green and grey part means.
Encourage your readers to click on the button by asking them. Finish your post by saying something like
“Did you like this post? retweet it and help me spread the word.“
If you are a kind blogger, and regularly communicate with your readers, they will be happy to reciprocate.
Retweet posts from other bloggers
I Don’t know if you believe in ‘Karma’, but in my opinion if you want people to help you start by helping them first. Regularly retweet content from other bloggers. Almost every time someone retweet my posts, I enter Twitter to see who this person is and does he run a blog himself.
That a post will go viral is not something that can be quarantined by fulfilling several steps. This is why I included the word ‘Help’ in my post title. Start by writing great & unique content, then provide your readers simple way to share your content…and prey to your favorite God
Did you like this post? retweet it and help me spread the word.
