New Blog Design for PlaceForBloggers.com with Thesis Professional WordPress Theme for Blog

by Place for Bloggers

The first step to become a pro blogger is starting a blog. The second step is have a pro blog design.I decided to give my self a gift for new year and upgrade my blog design. After three-month blogging, I came to a point where I know I love blogging, I feel confidence with my writing and I am ready to commit.

In this post I’d like to share the six 6 steps I took to have my new design.

6 Steps for New Blog Design

Be prepared to spend some cash.

If you like a professional blog you need to get professional help (e.g. web designers, professional theme)….calm down you aren’t a fortune 500 company branding itself. A couple of hundreds Dollars will be enough.

Upgrade to professional WordPress theme.

The first step is selecting a premium theme. professional theme will always have a better and pro look, built-in SEO support, ability to customize thing such as fonts and colors and official support in case of bugs.

A good professional theme will cost you ~80-100 $ one-time charge. In PlaceForBloggers.com I chose the Thesis WordPress theme.

Brand yourself with unique blog header image.

One the drawback in using a premium theme is that many other blogs use the same theme. The first step to make your blog unique is creating your own header image.

Custom the premium WordPress theme.

This is another way to make your blog unique among other blog that use the same theme. Change the main font. Set your own color theme etc.

Brand yourself with professional logo

Don’t afraid to change logo if you aren’t satisfied with the current one, you probably be don’t have so many constant visitors at this time and you’ll be able to communicate it ahead.

Clean your blog sidebars.

Many new bloggers put too many widgets on blog sidebars (popular posts, categories, recent comments etc.). That make sidebars too crowded and drive the focus from the content.
In my opinion popular posts widget is the only needed one to make new visitors stay in your blog and visit more posts.

I am so excited to reach this point and I hope you like my new blog design your feedback is very welcome.

Hi Shay:

I second Robert’s comments — nice clear look, not so crowded like so many blogs.

Is upgrading to a premium Wordpress blog $80-$100 a month, year or one-time charge?

Good fortune to you and your new baby in the new year!
