They always tell you a successful blogger should keep learning… but what does it really mean.
In this article I provide my interpretation of the word ‘Learn’ for a successful blogger, and 7 ways to learn as a blogger.
Learn from readers comments
The comment section is a great place to get ideas for new posts. For example the idea to write the post about the importance of Gravatar for promoting your blog came when I noticed that several readers that commented on my blog don’t use Gravatar.
Learn what people search for in your blog
Every blog has a search box. Many bloggers see search box as just a service they provide for their readers. Install Search Meter WordPress plugin and Keep track of what your visitors are searching for. Learn from the statistics what your readers search for in your blog, and provide them more of that kind.
Learn from Pro Bloggers
Don’t just learn which topic they discuss, everybody does that. Learn where they put subscribe buttons. Learn the ratio of content and ads they use and more.
Learn from Search Engine Terms
Learn what terms people used to find your blog. Take a look in posts and pages people reached from search engines. Learn what made these posts more SEO friendly. Learn the kind of teasers make people click on your URL in search engine result page.
Learn from Most Popular Posts
Learn what make some posts more popular then other. Was it the topic they discuss (‘Twitter’, ‘Promote a Blog’) ? the title? your teaser?
Learn from Referrers list
You probably use several services including social networks to promote your blog. Check which refers you most visitors. Consider invest more time on this service, or alternatively learn what steps you took that made this service refer you many people, and apply those steps on the other services.
Learn from your mistakes
Maybe the most important. Don’t afraid to make decisions and apply changes to your blog, put your ads at the top, left, right, bottom, as long as you learn from the process and be able to implement it in future decisions.
